Why would 5 alfonso XIII coins be linked together with a chain?

Centavos

5,10,20,40,&silver peso.
Linked with chain on both sides of each coin...Lining the coins up from largest to smallest (size and amount)

How much do you think they are worth?

Does the chain decrease the value?

Well Alfonso XIII was the King of Spain up to the Spanish Civil War, he ruled from1886-1931. Coin jewelry is a very common thing and they may have been linked as a bracelet. A lot of coin jewelry is made made of copy coins and not the real item, however I have seen a lot of coin bracelets with real coins that date back to the 1800's. Coins lose a lot of collector value if they are holed. Unless they are a rare date they are only worth the silver value. Hope this helps.

Dr. Alfonso Costa helps to raise scholarship money for Pittsburgh-area students

Dr. Alfonso Costa serves as President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Carson Scholars Fund. Since its 2004 inception, the Pittsburgh Carson Scholars Fund has awarded over 400 students in Pittsburgh-area public and parochial schools with scholarship money to be used toward a college education. The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity that was founded in 1994 by Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon, Dr. Benjamin Carson and his wife, Candy, to recognize and reward students in grades 4-11 who strive for academic excellence (3.75 GPA or higher) and demonstrate a strong commitment to their community.

Carson Scholars, in addition to receiving a monetary award, are honored at an elegant banquet surrounded by friends and family. They receive an Olympic–sized medal and an imposing certificate. Their schools are presented with a large inscribed trophy to put on display for the entire school to admire. Students are eligible to be selected as Carson Scholars as early as the fourth grade. This means that they return to their schools from the awards banquet as academic heroes, as role models for their schoolmates. This recognition encourages the entire school to strive for academic success.

Carson Scholars are not only intelligent, but have demonstrated a genuine concern for people and their communities through civic and humanitarian activities. Carson Scholars are not selected on the basis of need, although many scholars come from needy circumstances. When Carson Scholars are chosen they know that it is on the basis of their own personal achievement. As Pittsburgh Chapter’s President, Dr. Alfonso Costa is committed to helping Dr. Ben and Candy Carson achieve their dream of having a Carson Scholar in every school in the United States.

On December 7, 2009 Dr. Alfonso Costa, along with co-hosts Jerome Bettis and James Farrior, hosted the 6th Annual Charity Auction and Cocktail Event. It is the Pittsburgh chapter’s sole annual fundraiser. The event was held at Bossa Nova in downtown Pittsburgh, and the evening was highlighted by an autograph session with members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as silent and live auctions.

The 6th Annual student awards banquet will be held in Spring 2010. The 6th Annual Charity Auction Event was sponsored by S & T Bank, Costa Land Company and Dr. Gerald Loyacona.
